This game has got the settings right, others have failed to understand how pieces can be moved, here a simple tap to the destination space and its done. Decent strength AI, all round good experience. One last point, no backgammon software has ever achieved, is to allow the game to end when it's clear that no matter what dice combination is thrown by either player, one player is certain of victory. In real life, when certainty is known, the game ends, why would anyone want to continue?

Though I question the luck of the computer rolls, still a great game

AI is pretty damn lucky sometimes but overall a great app

I'm thrilled that BGBlitz, the desktop backgammon program I use to get better, is now available as a phone app! Just a few initial quibbles: 1. The tutor rating for my moves should disappear the moment I undo one or more of them. (i.e. it should only always reflect the moves I'm seeing on the board at the moment.) 2. It would be a nice time-saver if the computer would resign games it can no longer possibly win, mathematically. 3. It would be nice if there could be some sort of graphical marker of the checkers that just moved. This would be another time-saver because you could then set the movement speed to instantaneous and still see what the computer's moves were. 4. I get that the BGBlitz tutor had to be simplified for an app, but it would be nice for it to also suggest/evaluate the offering and accepting of doubles, which is, to me at least but I suspect for most serious players as well, the hardest part of the game to master. Finally, a note to any readers about the users giving this app low ratings because they're convinced it cheats: Beginners usually play in a super "safe" way that's not really safe at all, because it eventually leaves them stuck with a totally inflexible position for which there are practically no good rolls. Stronger players accept some risk of being hit in order to construct stronger positions where it's more likely that more rolls will be good for them. It's like the beginners are playing poker by only ever trying for royal flushes, and then complaining that they're getting dealt "unlucky" cards while their opponents keep getting lucky. Nope. You're just not a very strong player yet, but if you'll use the tutor function of this app, you can get better.

This game looks and feels good but is so fundamentally crooked as to make it unplayable. Sadly the norm amongst backgammon apps. The world needs a true random number generator. The world does not need bent artificial intelligence programing and suspect coding.
